Race Day Drivers Meeting
(**Please note this page is for quick reference purposes only, is a work in progress and currently IS NOT FINAL. Information listed here does not supercede KCKA, WKA, TAG USA or SKUSA rules. All members should have applicable rulebooks with them on race day.)
RACE FLAGS
GREEN FLAG
Go!
The green flag is waved by the head flagman to indicate the beginning of a race, qualifying or practice session. It is waved after a full course caution to tell the drivers that the race has been restarted. The green flag also is an indication that the course is clear of any obstacles.
YELLOW FLAG
Caution
The yellow flag is the signal for drivers to use caution on the track. The yellow flag is most often used following on track accidents. Drivers must be prepared to stop but are allowed to race once they are clear of the yellow flagged area. You cannot pass within a yellow flag area.
RED FLAG
Stop!
Indicates a dangerous situation on or near the track and the race is being stopped immediately. A red flag often means the track has been blocked by an accident or debris and there is no safe route through the problem.
BLUE FLAG
Passing - Overtaking
The blue or passing flag usually is an indication to a driver that there is a faster kart coming up behind him and is about to overtake him. The driver that is about to be overtaken, should permit the faster kart to pass safely. Sometimes drivers resist moving over for an over-taking kart when they feel they are racing for position. If you see this flag remember to keep a straight line and do not block.
BLACK FLAG
Infraction
Generally when a driver is black flagged it means a driver must return to the pits because of a rules infraction or disqualification. It is also used to alert a driver that their kart is unsafe and requires inspection or repairs. When displayed fully(waived), the driver must bring the kart to the pits on the next lap. Drivers sometimes ignore a black flag but doing so can result in disqualification and loss of points. A rolled black flag is a warning to the driver usually for overly aggressive driving or bumping. It is the race director/head flagman's sole discretion to determine the use of a black flag.
WHITE FLAG
Last Lap
The white flag indicates that a driver is entering the last lap of practice, qualifying or a race. It is waved continuously to all cars following the leader until the leader approaches the finish line.
CHECKERED FLAG
Finish Line
The flag is displayed to indicate that the leader has completed the required number of laps and the race is over. Drivers should slow to a safe speed for the cool down lap and return to the pits. The checkered flag also ends the race for karts that have not yet completed the scheduled number of laps.

RAIN OR ADVERSE CONDITIONS:
a. The KCKA will race in raceable wet conditions as defined below. Racers need to be prepared to race in the rain as conditions warrant.
b. If it is obvious that the weather at a scheduled event will prevent an event from being conducted, the event can be used for a drop.
c. Wet weather racing rules will be in effect when the Race Director/KCKA Board declares such conditions.
d. Raceable wet conditions are defined as a wet track but without deep standing water or heavy running water on the track surface. Heavy rainfall or the presence of an electrical storm in an area is not acceptable wet weather racing conditions.
h. If the Race Director/KCKA Board determines that the track is unsafe for racing because of heavy rain or other adverse conditions, the event day will be cancelled. The Race Director/KCKA Board will not cancel a race due to rain or other adverse weather conditions before 10 a.m. on the day of the event.
e. The Race Director/KCKA Board has the authority to declare wet racing at any time during the race day. A reasonable period of time will be allowed to change tires (not to exceed 30 minutes).
f. Rain tires will be allowed at the discretion of the Race Director/KCKA Board. Any commercially available, unaltered treaded tire will be allowed or their choice of legal dry tires. Hand grooved dry tires are not allowed. Such tires may be marked when used. The use of rain tires is a racers option. If conditions are changing, a competitor may choose to alternate between rain tires and dry tires.
g. Races will be considered complete if the Race Director/KCKA Board changes from dry to wet in the second half of a heat race. Races that are changed in the first half will be restarted once the tires are changed. Karts will be re-grid according to their starting positions.
h. If an event cannot be completed due to adverse conditions, awards and point will be distributed based upon the last completed race (Pre-Final or Final) and NO refund will be given.
i. If the Pre-Final was not completed before the rain cancellation, all drivers that were in the pits will receive a free admission for the next event with proof of race entry.
